Marty was a pitcher for the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia during his first two college seasons before finishing his career at DeSales University for Tim Neiman. Marty met Tim in 1991 while playing for the Quakertown Blazers in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
Upon graduating from DeSales University, Marty spent two years teaching high school in New Jersey and coaching with his father at Christian Brothers Academy. Marty’s father is currently among the states five all-time winningest baseball coaches in the state New Jersey with over 650 career wins.
In 1998 Marty joined Tim as an assistant baseball coach at DeSales University and later became the Associate Head Baseball Coach until 2005. While at DeSales Marty was responsible for the pitching staff, third base coaching and recruiting. During his time period at DeSales the team won six conference titles, appeared in six NCAA Tournament Regionals and qualified for the 2003 College World Series.
While at DeSales University, Marty also served as the Assistant Director of Admissions from 1999-2005. During this time Marty managed staff and oversaw the admissions office recruitment territories. Marty coordinated the development of acceptance criteria and reviewed and determined decisions on student’s applications. Marty also helped develop the admissions office prospect management plan, aided in the development of on-campus recruitment events, and created the DeSales Alumni Recruitment team.
